About Us
How It All Started
A Few Years Ago In A City Not To Far Away…Group founder Shane Hebert joined the R2 Builders Club in July 2013 to start his research to build a full-sized R2-D2. He finally pulled the trigger and started building May 4 2016. At the time he knew of no one else in his area that was building or have built one and was looking to see if he could find someone to collaborate with. Born and raised close to New Orleans, LA and now residing outside of McComb, MS. ,he thought it would be wise to create a group and incorporate both states. In November 2017 South Central Droid Builders was born. The group was started to give builders a place to share, learn, trade & help one another with the build process. Our first “Meet & Greet” was with club president Shane Hebert, master prop builder Gerold Dishman & administrator Ben Black. Since then we have attended many events and have picked up some new builders along the way. We are a non-profit organization who seek to promote interest in Star Wars and robotics through the fabrication and puppeteering of our droids.
